Chittagong Polytechnic Institute is the second largest polytechnic institute among all 49 government polytechnic institutes in Bangladesh. This polytechnic is situated on 20 acres of land in Nasirabad, Chittagong. The present principal name of Chittagong polytechnic in Engr. Abdur Rahman. The total number of students of this polytechnic is about 3000+.
There are five boys hostels and one girl’s hostel available in Chittagong polytechnic institute for the student to stay accommodation at a cheap cost. The management of these students’ residential hostels is so impressive. There are guide teachers who maintain the food qualities and make sure that students can study properly in staying hostel.
The Chittagong Polytechnic Institute has a large library. Where a lot of books are available for the students. The Institute’s students can read these books free. The Admission Qualification for all Government polytechnic in Bangladesh is the same. First of all, you have to pass the SSC exam with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 and an individual CGPA of 3.00 in General Math or Higher Math. After achieving these qualifications, you can apply to admit to a government polytechnic institute.
The Chittagong polytechnic has been preserved some quotas. The female quota is 20%, SSC (vocational) 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. According to diploma engineering admission circular 2019, 53% of students will be admitted to polytechnic diploma engineering by merit and 47% of students have been admitted to the government quota.
Each of the Chittagong polytechnic institute’s departments is divided into eight semesters. In each semester a student earns a significant amount of CGPA under 4 or equal. The last semester is the Industrial Training Semester. A student learns practical information about a selected technology in the industry for about six months.
Every Government polytechnic has two shifts on a day First shift and second Shift. The class of First shift begins between 7:00-8:00 AM and ends between 12:00-1:00 PM. Again the second shift class begins at 1:30 PM and ends at 6:00 PM.
If a student has passed in a semester with a good result and without any referred then the institute gives the student TK 1650 as regards the internal scholarship.
