Nursing is an honorable profession in Bangladesh. Nursing education is a progressive, gradual learning process of earning nursing and midwifery knowledge and skills that bring about changes in student behaviors. Nursing education also acquires active and life-long learning. Midwifery is the care of the girl-child, the adolescent, and the adult woman prior to, during, and the following pregnancy. Diploma in nursing and midwifery admission is one of the biggest public admission exam in Bangladesh. Approximately 400 – 500 thousands of students participate in nursing admission each year after completing their HSC.
The Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery course is a three years duration course. Every academic year consists of 52 weeks and out of 52 weeks, 45 reserved for theory,
laboratory classes, clinical practice, review class, and test examination. The rest of the 07 weeks will be used for study leave, BNMC examination, and school break. The students who fail a course they able to take re-exam or to do an additional study like assignment & practice to improve their academic performance in order to fulfill the requirement of the course in this break. Each week divided into 6 working days and 6 hours a day for theory & lab.
The courses of Diploma In Nursing And Midwifery are three types and these are General Courses, Foundation Courses, and Professional Courses. Below I discuss more of these courses and courses related subjects.
In the general course, a total of eight subjects were taught.
Foundation course is the mid-level course in Diploma in nursing and midwifery course. There are seven subjects were taught in this course.
In Professional Courses, there are 4 subjects that were taught.
