Feni Polytechnic Institute is highly regulated and monitored by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) under the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the Governments of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. And all the academic activities of this polytechnic Institute are supervised by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).
About 4000 students read in this polytechnic Institute. This polytechnic has 15.97 acres long campus and 110 academic staff. Md. Mohidur Rahman is the present principal of this polytechnic Institute. And the current vice principal’s name is Engr. Syed Faruq Ahmed.
This Institute provides the hostel faculties to the students for staying. There are different hostels for both male and female students. Students can stay at hostels at a low cost. On 29th February 1964, Feni Polytechnic started its journey as Feni Technical with Civil and Mechanical Engineering departments in a 15.97 Acre campus near the old Dhaka-Chittagong Highway road, just 500 meters east of Feni Sadar Hospital.
In 1972 with the addition of the Power department, the institution finally became Feni Polytechnic Institute. Suppose a student wants to admit to a government polytechnic institute first. In that case, he has to pass the SCC examination with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 (for a male student) and 3.00 for a female student with an individual GPA of 3.00 in general math or higher math.
All the government polytechnic institute in Bangladesh has preserved some quotas at the time of admission; among all quotas, 20% is female quotas, SSC (vocational) 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The Diploma In Engineering course duration is only 4 years. A total of four years is defined as 8 semesters. The first 7 semester is for academic studies, and the last semester is for industrial attachment.
Two shifts manage the class. The first shift class start at 08:00 am and ends at 12:00 pm again; the second shift class starts at 01:30 pm and ends at 06:00 pm.
