Graphic Arts Institute was established in 1967 in Dhaka, East Pakistan by Muhammad Azam Khan, the governor-general of East Pakistan, and Waqar Ahmed, Director General of Technical Education Directorate. R. K. Mollah was the first curator of this institute, and he was trained by the South Dakota University. The institute is under the administration of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Moreover, the journey of this institute started with only 25 seats.
Graphic Arts Institute is located in Satmosjit Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka. This institute is one of the ancient government institutes in the field of technical education in Bangladesh. The institutes currently have three departments running 4 years diploma-in-engineering courses. This institute is situated on 20 acres of land. This institute has 40 administrative staff and 500 students.
