The former Hon’ble Minister Mr. M. Saifur Rahman laid the foundation stone of this polytechnic institute on February 18, 2006. And the academic activities of this institute started in 2010 with only 2 technology and 186 students. And later other two technology has been introduced.
This polytechnic is located in the Matharkapan area on Shamser Nagar Road from Moulvibazar town. It is a modern polytechnic institute in Bangladesh. This polytechnic provides a diploma course with Four different trade or text topics. Presently the number of students of this institute is about 837. Imtiaz Ahmed Chowdhury Murad is the present principal of this institute.
This institute provides the hostel facility. There is only one building with 4 floors that can accommodate only 96 students. From July 2012, hostel activities have been started by allocating seats to 98 students.
It has a fascinating library that contains a lot of books. The institute students can borrow these books from the library without any cost. Also here a medical center available to ensure the students with the medical treatment.
There is a well-decorated canteen that has been situated in this institute to meet the food demand of the institute.

If you want to admit here, you must have some qualifications. First of all, you have to pass the SSC or equivalent exam with a minimum CGPA 3.50 for the male students and 3.00 for a female student. And the individual CGPA needed 3.00 in general math or higher math. The candidate’s age must be under 22. If you have these you can apply for admission.

The female quota is 20%, SSC (vocational) 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. According to diploma engineering admission circular 2019, 53% of students will be admitted to polytechnic diploma engineering by merit, and 47% of students will be admitted to government quota.
