Bangladesh has a total of 49 government polytechnic institutes. Among them, Satkhira Polytechnic is one of the most renowned technical institutes. It is located next to the Satkhira-Jessore road in Labsha Union Parishad. This polytechnic has a large campus having one academic building, one administration building, and two workshop buildings.
Presently, about 1000 students are studying in this institute. The academic programs, function under the regulation of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Dhaka. At present, a total number of about 1500 students instructed by 35 teachers are receiving education for facing global demands.
This polytechnic institute has own residential hostel to stay the male and female students at a low cost. To admit or stay on the hostel, a student has to full-fill some requirement given by the hostel authority. Main things are the student who lives very far from the Institute, like different district or division and has to study well.
A pleasant library room exists in this polytechnic institute, the library filled with a lot of books, the students can increase their knowledge by reading these books. To ensure the student with medical treatment there is also founded a medical centre.

The minimum requirements for admission in this college are Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent certificate with at least GPA 3.50 (65% marks) for the male students and GPA 3.00 for female students, on average with a minimum of GPA 3.00 in general math or higher math.
The government polytechnic conserved some quotas at the time of admission. Among the total quotas 20% for the female students, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5% and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
