About Sherpur Polytechnic Institute
The Sherpur Polytechnic Institute is only one technical education institute in the Sherpur district, which is playing a key role in the diploma-in-Engineering sector. About 1600 students are studying here in four years diploma-in-Engineering course in various technologies.
The total number of teachers, officers, and employees are 59. The Institute is situated in a naturally beautiful place. This Institute is located beside Dhaka Sherpur Highway at Bhatshala union which is around 05 KM east from Sherpur town. It has a compact campus of 02 acres of land. It has four attached academic buildings.
Students Residential Hostel
This Institute has residential hostel facilities for both male and female students. The Institute authority provides the best service to their students who stay in the hostel. The foods quality of the hostels is so fresh and healthy.
Library And Medical Center
A large library is available in this polytechnic institute for the students. The library is situated inside of the Institute’s building. The students can borrow various books from the library without any fees. Not only a library, but there is also a medial centre To ensure the students with medical treatments, Sherpur Polytechnic Institute has a Medical Center in this Institute. The Institute began its journey is 2004 with only one Technology, electronics, under the Directorate of Technical Education. Now it has four departments. These are Civil, Computer, Electronic, and Environment.

Presently this polytechnic Institute provides the diploma degree in only four technologies the technologies are Civil, Computer, Electronics, Environment. Each technology has 50 seats in each shift.
If a student wants to admit to this polytechnic Institute, he/she needs some qualification to apply. The qualifications are
- The male students have to pass the SSC exam with minimum CGPA 3.50
- The female students have to pass the SSC exam with minimum CGPA 3.00
- The individual GPA need 3.00 in math or higher math for both.
This Sherpur polytechnic institute also preserved some quotas at the time of admission among the total quotas 20% is for the female quota, SSC (vocational) quota 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
This polytechnic Institute provides the Diploma In Engineering course in many four technologies with four years duration. About 384 students complete their diploma-in-Engineering course in every year.
Presently two shifts are running in this Institute.
- The first shift class began from 08:00 AM and ended at 12:00 PM.
- The second shift class began from 01:30 PM and ended at 06:00 PM.
Some students from each department got TK. 1650 in every semester if they can make excellent results. Based on the Technical Education Board, the first 30 students get the scholarship. There is also a scholarship from STEP (Skills and Training Enhancement Project). The poor students get the scholarship. Every semester, STEP authority give a scholarship of 4800 TK to the selected students.
