About Sylhet Polytechnic Institute
Sylhet Polytechnic Institute (SPI) is a state-controlled polytechnic institute located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It was established in 1955 by the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) government. It was named Sylhet Polytechnic Institute in 1959. This polytechnic has 20 acres long urban campus. This institute has a total of 120 Academic staff, 50 Administrative staff, and about a total of 5572 students.

History Of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute
In 1955, Ford Foundation established the Sylhet Polytechnic Institute. Same time the Ford Foundation has also established four other similar institutes at Dhaka, Rangpur, Bogra, Pabna, and Barisal. In the beginning, Sylhet polytechnic institute offered 3 years of long courses, based on the syllabus of Oklahoma State University.
