This polytechnic institute situated in Gobinda Nagar, Thakurgaon Sadar, Thakurgaon. This polytechnic institute has about 2000+ students, 27 academic staff, 30 administrative, and 2 acres urban campus.
This polytechnic has no residential hostel facilities for staying the students.

The Thakurgaon polytechnic institute began its journey in 2004 with only one department. Presently this polytechnic provides the diploma in engineering course in five technologies.

Among this technology, the Computer and Food Technology contains 200 seats and other technologies are contains 100 seats in each shift.

The Thakugaon polytechnic is a government polytechnic institute. And like the other government polytechnic institute, this polytechnic follows some rules at the time of admission. The candidates who want to admit in this polytechnic at first they have to pass the SSC or equivalent exam with a minimum CGPA 3.50 and the individual CGPA is needed 3.00 in general math or higher math.
According to diploma engineering admission circular 2019, 53% of students will be admitted to polytechnic diploma engineering by merit, and 47% of students will be admitted to government quota. At the time of admission to this polytechnic institute, some students are selected according to the quota. The quotas are female quota is 20%, SSC (vocational) 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
In the beginning, the DIploma In Engineering was 3 years long course. But after some years the course duration converted into 4 years. Presently this polytechnic provides you the 4 years long course and the total 4 years is defined into 8 semesters.
