The Sherpur Polytechnic Institute is only one technical education institute in the Sherpur district, which is playing a key role in the diploma-in-Engineering sector. About 1600 students are studying here in four years diploma-in-Engineering course in various technologies.
The total number of teachers, officers, and employees are 59. The Institute is situated in a naturally beautiful place. This Institute is located beside Dhaka Sherpur Highway at Bhatshala union which is around 05 KM east from Sherpur town. It has a compact campus of 02 acres of land. It has four attached academic buildings.
This Institute has residential hostel facilities for both male and female students. The Institute authority provides the best service to their students who stay in the hostel. The foods quality of the hostels is so fresh and healthy.
A large library is available in this polytechnic institute for the students. The library is situated inside of the Institute’s building. The students can borrow various books from the library without any fees. Not only a library, but there is also a medial centre To ensure the students with medical treatments, Sherpur Polytechnic Institute has a Medical Center in this Institute. This polytechnic has a canteen to provide fresh food to the student. The environment of the canteen is suitable for passing the leisure time for students and teachers. This Sherpur polytechnic institute also preserved some quotas at the time of admission among the total quotas 20% is for the female quota, SSC (vocational) quota 15%, minor ethnic group quota 2%, freedom fighter 5%, special needs student quota 5%, and 2% for children of officials or employees who are working in Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Some students from each department got TK. 1650 in every semester if they can make excellent results. Based on the Technical Education Board, the first 30 students get the scholarship. There is also a scholarship from STEP (Skills and Training Enhancement Project). The poor students get the scholarship. Every semester, STEP authority give a scholarship of 4800 TK to the selected students.
